Senior Care

Old age isn't a disease. We can help your older pet remain healthy & active throughout their life.

We all aspire to have our pets live to a happy, healthy old age. But, senior pets do have special needs and it can be important to regularly assess their diet, exercise, and overall healthcare plan as they get older. At Wauwatosa Veterinary Clinic, we can help you discover how to best care for your senior, and discuss ways to help them remain active, vibrant and of course, healthy throughout their days.

For senior pets, we recommend a wellness visit every 6 months, so that any issues can be caught early and addressed right away. These regular wellness exams should include blood and urine testing so that changes which may not be easily detected through physical examination can be identified. These preventative tests provide valuable insights into your senior pet's health status and can provide an opportunity to make beneficial changes in their routines so that minor issues don't become major problems down the road.

In addition to regular bloodwork and urine testing, our staff can also talk with you about diet, exercise, supplements, and other ways that you can help to support your senior animal loved one. We also offer onsite Physical Rehabilitation, Therapeutic Massage, Acupuncture, and Laser Therapy for senior pets who may be dealing with some decreased mobility or chronic pain.
