Dr. Thomas N. Tenorio
Auburn University, 1984
Dr. Tenorio is not only the owner of the Wauwatosa Veterinary Clinic, he’s also the driving force behind the compassionate care and high-quality medical services that the clinic provides. Although his role has evolved into more specialty & behind the scenes work in recent years, it's his leadership and vision that have helped the Wauwatosa Veterinary Clinic continue to grow and thrive after more than 40 years serving the community.
Dr. Tenorio chose to be a veterinarian because he says he’s always loved science, medicine and our pets. “Veterinary medicine was a natural fit.” As a doctor, his philosophy is to be an advocate for each patient and to provide a range of choices to our clients that is in the best interest of their pet, while also taking into consideration the client’s wishes and needs. His favorite part of working at Wauwatosa Vet is “becoming friends with the clients and supporting the bond they have with their pet.” Some of his favorite advances in veterinary medicine are the variety of medications available now with fewer side effects for pets, the range of alternative medicine options that we’re able to provide to patients to help them, and the advent of Fear Free practices to help address our patients’ mental and emotional well-being in addition to their physical health.
Away from the clinic, Dr. Tenorio can be found tending to his 13 acre hobby farm that includes three Saddle Bred horses, two miniature donkeys, several chickens and a geko. His more conventional fukids include an English Bulldog named Wanda, a Chihuahua named Pinky (aka Spike) and a French Bulldog named Pickles. He also enjoys spending quality time with his wife Kristin and their daughter and two sons.
'When we first came to the metro Milwaukee area, we had a veterinarian diagnose our dog with a disease he didn't have. Dr. Tenorio quickly identified the error and treated him appropriately. We have been going back with all of our pets for over 25 years now. The staff is attentive and responsive. They offer many options to accommodate your comfort level and budget. I have recommended them to many friends/co-workers and will continue to do so with confidence.' ~ C.S.

Dr. Ericka Haynes
University of Wisconsin-Madison, 2007
Dr. Haynes has been a member of our team since 2014 and she has developed a very loyal fan base ever since. Her enthusiasm for her job stems from her deep love of animals and also the great clients that we have at Wauwatosa Vet. “Our clients are exceptionally emotionally invested in their companions’ well-being and I am committed to respecting clients and patients equally.” She especially enjoys dermatology and helping patients with challenging conditions.
Dr. Haynes comes from a large family that includes 4 siblings and in addition to spending time with her cat Nala and dog Riesling, she also enjoys reading, attending various cultural events and volunteering – especially if it involves kids.
'Of all the doctors I have ever met ( in all fields of medicine) Dr. Ericka Haynes is my favorite. She's caring, gentle and my dog LOVES her. He wags his whole body and flips over on his back when he sees her. I'm glad she's our vet!! We love her.' ~ A.C.
Dr. Jamie Oakes
University of Illinois, 2021
Dr. Oakes is a graduate of the University of Illinois and has special interests in behavior and Low Stress Handling as well as feline care and socialization. Her practice philosophy is to focus on making her patients as comfortable as possible and to work as team with their pet parents to help them live their best life. She loves that the veterinary field is embracing the Fear Free approach to practicing medicine as well as utilizing more integrative medicine / complementary therapies for pets, as both of these strategies allow our team to build a stronger bond with our patients and offer them a wider range of treatment options to help them stay healthy and active throughout their lives.
Her favorite parts of being a veterinarian (aside from snuggling with patients) is having the opportunity to give pets a voice and to blend her love of animals with her love of science. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, hiking and traveling, and spending time with her husband and their dog Reggie, a Red Heeler, and Piper, a Calico cat.
Dr. Mallory Bonstrom
University of Wisconsin-Madison, 2018
Dr. Bonstrom is the proud mom to two feline furkids, Beanie and Maverick, and in her spare time enjoys rowing, running and traveling. She chose to go into veterinary medicine because she enjoys helping people through helping their pets and she is particularly interested in integrative medicine, surgery, preventive care and working with senior pets.
Her approach to medicine is collaborative – she seeks to work together with pet parents to help them provide the best possible care to their furry family members. That’s part of why she enjoys working at the Wauwatosa Veterinary Clinic, because “our clients consider their pets as part of the family and they want to do what’s best for them.” She is currently working on her Veterinary Acupuncture certification and has been treating pets with acupuncture at the Wauwatosa Veterinary Clinic since 2018.
'The care provided at Wauwatosa Veterinary Clinic is incredible. Dr. Mallory Bonstrom was absolutely fantastic. She has a great bedside manner with the pets and the owners.
